shinigami-to-english dictionary
Kidou - Shinigami magic, divided into three branches
-- Bakudo; binding, support and defensive spells
-- Hadou; offensive spells
-- Kaidou; healing spells.
Shihakusho - Shinigami uniform. Woven from a special kind of cloth.
Shinigami - A soul who possesses significant spiritual pressure and a zanpakutou.
Shō - The most basic hadou. It's purely a kinetic force that shoves things away from the caster.
Zanpakutou - Literally "soul cutter sword", a zanpakutou is a sword that has part of a shingami's soul imprinted into it, making it a literal extension of themselves. Each zanpakutou has unique powers specific to the shinigami who wields it.
Shikai - The first stage of a Zanpakutou's release. It's the prereq for being a Lieutenant.
Bankai - The second stage of Zanpakutou's release. It's a hell of a lot more rare than Shikai.
Fourth Division - They specialise in kaidou, and are seen as the wimpiest Division by literally everyone, but especially the Eleventh Division. This is despite them being Captained by one of the scariest goddamned people ever: Unohana Retsu
Eleventh Division - They specialise in FIGHTING WITH SORDS. Their entire schtick is no kidou, swords only,
Reishi - Spirit particles. What Soul Society (and everything and everyone in it) is made of.
Reiryoku - The amount of spiritual energy stored within a Shinigami/person.
Reiatsu - The pressure of an individual's Reiroyku. Can be moulded into kidou, or used to power shunpou.
Shunpou - Flash-stepping.
Plus - A human soul. These typically pass on to Soul Society of their own accord.
Hollow - A corrupted human soul, or conglomeration thereof. They eat other souls to try and assuage their own hunger. Can and will target living humans who were important to them when they were alive and/or rich in Reiryoku.
